December 2020 Newsletter – Week 5

As part of the New Stream experience, new Teams meeting recordings will be stored in your OneDrive for Business and SharePoint. Based on customer feedback, Microsoft are enhancing the feature so that these recordings are not downloadable by those with view-only permissions, and that those permissions be set by default.

The New Stream experience was originally communicated in MC222640 (Standard) and MC229363 (GCC) also see this documentation for more details on the timing and experience.

With this feature, users can add the Channel calendar app to a Teams channel when using the Teams desktop app.

Approvals in Microsoft Teams is a way to streamline requests and processes with a team or partners. Users will be able to create new approvals, view pending approvals, and see previous ones in one place.

Users with an F3 license or above are able to take advantage of the Approvals app within Teams (license list below). If you do not have users that meet that requirement, you may safely ignore this message.

Updated December 22, 2020: Based on learnings from our early rings, Microsoft has made the decision to make additional changes to the code before we proceed with the rollout. Microsoft will deliver a new Message center post once we re-start the rollout.

Teams will soon support up to 20,000 meeting attendees as view-only participants for tenants with the Advanced Communications add-on.

Effective December, 2020, data loss prevention (DLP) policies’ Powershell cmdlet Add-CustomConnectorToPolicy will no longer support the addition of custom connectors to tenant level policies. Additionally, custom connectors added to tenant level policies will not be shown on the data loss prevention page (DLP UI) in the Power Platform admin center.
